Imo they aren't hard to take off and put on... better spray the hardware with wd/pb/lr before you try. I broke a bunch of bolts taking mine off. Since I was cutting and modifying it didn't make much difference to me though

I used Rustoleum for Plastic.I did almost ZERO prep work...like i just cleaned them with windex and thats it.

The day I got my Jeep:

Day it was painted: (sorry for the blurryness)

As of last Monday:

Its been almost 5 months of it sitting out in the sun literally everyday..not to include its not even chipped or thing from all of the mud and rocks and branches.

Edit: And for only using two cans, with VERY heave coats ...Id say thats not too bad

Edit 2: And I also painted my grill and bumpers and whipper ares with it.

im about to do mine also, going with duplicolor bed liner. used it on a truck floor board once. stayed on pretty well threw alot of heavy use.

i think it was only about 20 bones for a quart, forget the $20 applicator kit. get a small cheap roller and disposable pan from the depot, you can get different naps depending on what texture you want. i recommend at least a little bit off texture to hide any imperfections.
Just plan on cleaning mine really well with naptha.

good luck!

planning on doing mine this weekend, ill post pics.

I get I will have to do some sort of prep work before. But what i'm not sure of is to how you would actually sand plastic? Or would it just be ok to if the bumpers and fenders a good wipe down?

Started with 80 to get the crappy chipped paint left by the po of then 180 to smooth it. I HATE sanding stuff like that.

I have a blue 4 door cherokee that had nearly white fenders from the sun.

I taped/newspaperd the fender then hit it with a coat of primer then two or three coats of krylon fusion flat black. came out awesome and maybe took an hour and a half in total

Ok. Thanks, my fenders and bumpers are looking pretty chalky white and I can't stand to look at them.

It is exactly that, adhesion promoter. Yes, it can be used on both plastic and metal. But it is used for plastic more often due to plastics low energy surface. Automotive paints don't bond well with plastics, adhesion promoter bonds well to both creating a middle layer to hold it all together. I'm not sure about the bed liner, but if they're compatible i'm sure it would help. If you chose to combine the adhesion promoter and bed liner test on a scrap piece to make sure they will get along alright. I used Duplicolors adhesion promoter and it worked with great results.

So did you sand before or just give a good wipe down?
