Default faulty evap help

My xj keeps throwing code p0443 and the scanner says "check for a failed evap solenoid, faulty wiring or a loose or damaged connector"
I know a little about a lot but my knowledge of evap systems is almost nonexistent. Any ideas on where to start looking/doing. Thanks

Possibly your EVAP valve/canister. Do you have trouble filling up at the gas pump?

Canister as in the charcoal canister, by the gas tank? And nope, no trouble filling up, that's the jeeps favorite thing to do haha. But I have noticed my mileage has been even worse than normal since the check engine light has been on

You should hear and feel the evap solenoid clicking when the PCM goes into closed loop. The solenoid is mounted against the firewall on the passenger side. Check it out.

There should be an emissions label on the driver's side firewall that shows the evap system plumbing.

It was the purge valve. It was unplugged, I must have messed with it last time I was under the hood. I turned off the check engine light after reconnecting it and it hasn't thrown the code since. Thanks guys, you saved me from an annoying and embarrassing trip to the mechanic
