Default fan speed

One of the fan speeds for my heat stopped working the other day. The other 3 work fine though. Any idea's what would cause this, or how I go about fixin it?

x2. They go out. Could be the switch, but unlikely. It's easy to diagnose though, if you have a basic understanding of how to use a VOM. Sometimes the resistors can be diagnosed by eye - it will look burned.

X3. Do not touch it when it is hot though.

Where is the blower motor resistor located? I need to replace mine as I have no fan speeds (believe it is running on low if at all). Bought the new resistor the other day, is it just under the dash as it is in a lot of vehicles?

its under the passenger side dash. its a black oval type thing with 2 screws and a 4 prong plug.

Your problem could be anything though..

I've been trying to get help on my heat issue since I bought the jeep a year ago, no luck so far. Just replaced the resistor again with a brand new one. Today it worked when heated up but then stopped next time I started it cold.

Its your resistor... but resistors go bad because the blower motor over heated it... so u have to replace them both... under pass side dash... 2 to 3 wire plug probly...
