Default Fan pulley and powersteering pulley replacement

Hi guys. Got a typical squeal going on, replaced belt and harmonic balancer cause it was wobbling bad. Belt is tight and squeal stopped for about 2.mins before coming back. Noticed the fan pulley is squealing and also powersteering pulley also. I replaced the can clutch in hopes fan would not be on 24/7 and yet it's still spinning even at cold temp. Does anyone have part number of the fan poo pulley?

Wait a sec... You expect a mechanical fan to not spin?

Pulleys themselves do not go bad. The idler is a pulley and bearing built into one...that goes bad frequently...the fan clutch always turns...you cant see the difference of it engaged or not engaged. Change the idler...20 bucks and adjust the belt to the proper tension...I use the Goodyear gatorback...good belt

With the fan clutch it should switch back and forth between free spring and locking in when temp gets up to a certain temp. The fan shouldn't be running all the time. I replaced the fan clutch because it spins all the time. There should be very little spin at first cold start up and only come on when engine needs to be cooled down. How every other engine works with a fan clutch

The fan will always turn. The thermal clutch determines how fast it turns relative to temperature. At low temps, the fan is partially disengaged but never fully. The fan will spin faster with rising temps until fully engaged.

I guess this is the first clutch fan that has never free spun until engine needed cooling. Every other vehicle I've owned it free spins until cooling is needed. Thanks for the tip.

If you're looking for the hub bearing that the fan rides on, the part number is 17104.83

I actually ended up getting it faster through amazon. Only paid a couple bucks more than rock auto.

So the mechanical fans on your other vehicles stopped spinning completely occasionally?

Yeah my avalanche only comes on when engine rises I'm guessing about 190 degrees. Then shuts off and barely spins. I had a Dodge 1500 with the 4.7 do the same thing. The fan pulley is a oem part only I guess. Looked all over rock auto and autozone. Couldn't cross reference it. Called dealer and got part number and eBay had few used and I found a guy with a brand new one. $32 shipped. Guess it's dealer and vendor only with oem parts.

.....unless your pulley is damaged, it's not going to fix your problem. The pulley has no bearing in it, it's just a "wheel" like pully that bolts to the hub.
