Ok the pulley that holds my fan clutch is squeaking very badly and the belt keeps trying to run off the pulley. I read in my manual that its called the "Fan Bearing Hub" I cant find that part anywhere on the Internet! Maybe it goes by a different name? Does anyone know where I can get one or do I have to replace the entire bracket assembly the pulley is on? If so what is it called and where in the world can I get one at. ANy help would be greatly appreciated!!

No the Pulley that the fan clutch is attached too. I know what the Fan clutch is.

Could it be the idler pulley that is squeaking?

 

I could be wrong but this web site has different pulleys for the xj I would give them a call in the morning. One of them is probably the right one.

Just trying to learn so bear with me. Isn't the fan clutch attached to the water pump?,

 

There is no bearing in that pulley it attaches to the water pump. It sounds like your water pump bearings are bad.

 

If u are totally stuck, remove fan bearing from mount, reinstall mount and
a/c compressor. take altenator bracket out and grind the edge off between bottom
and middle bolts. get a K5 or k4 belt shorter then the k61025. reroute belt
from steering pump to crank back up around waterpump and down around altenator up to a/c compressor.this should work temporary. I have not tried this, but i have my fan bearing hub out right now and put the belt in place to see. this might work. also install an 14 inch electric fan, fan should run continuous while engine is running.

 

Just had this go on me. You have to buy the complete bracket assembly from jeep. I opted to get rid of the clutch fan. I got a shorter belt and ground down the lower alt. bracket a bit to clear the belt. Then Installed an 12" electric fan wired up to a theromstat/relay.

 

I had to replace that assembly a few months ago. It was only available from Dodge. Those bearings are part of the whole aluminum bracket and the whole things gets replaced. The part was almost $500. Total Suck.

 

Hey guys i just had the fan hub go out also.i drive a 89xj niw and all i had to do was by a 84 in belt and unbolt the fan blade.i also hooked up my aux fan full time to offset the low air flow

I am going through this now. Not even any 'reclamation yards' in a 200 radius has the bracket, judging by the report I got.

And an FYI to anyone else with this, the fan pulley out of a 92 2.3 Ranger will fit, if the bolt holes are elongated slightly. These pulleys can be ribbed or smooth, but both types have outer edges, holding the belt on. You may have to press the center outwards about a 16th of an inch for belt alignment. I 'scalped' the outer side holes to compensate. But this is a temp fix, and the pulley is strength compromised. Mine has lasted about two months.
