Teach them both how to drive it carefully and they'll be ok. I'd get a Rough Country 4.5" LA kit, comes with quick disconnects for the sway bar which will help on-road manners a bunch. Also get backspaced wheels and put 33s on them, and it'll be plenty stable on the road while still being super capably offroad.Originally Posted by spahr69

Nope, the kit comes with quick disconnects. Your Jeep already has a front sway bar but if you lift it the stock endlinks(what connect it to the axel) aren't long enough and need to be replaced, being able to disconnect the front sway bar while offroading allows significantly more suspension travel, thus the need for quick disconnects.Originally Posted by spahr69

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sway_bar <-explains what a sway bar is and why you need one.

you need a sway bar, even stock.

a CV rear DS with a SYE would be a very good idea.Originally Posted by spahr69

normally i would too. but when i bought my xj, everytime i would hit abump with no sway bar going over 45, it fealt like i had blown a tire, but it was the axles wobbling. once i got the new sway bar and endlinks, no more wobbleOriginally Posted by ZachsXJ

If you want it family friendly, you need the sway barOriginally Posted by ZachsXJ

I have Rusty's 4.5" full spring pack short arm kit with 32's and have not have the first problems with it. It is my daily driver about 50 miles daily. I had to extend the crap out of my bumpstops to keep it from rubbing. had to do some minor trimming. Check out my albums for pics

I'm on 3" with 31s on stock wheels and no sway bar...and its stable enough at 65mph for me to swerve over by one lane on ****ty RVA highways.

you don't NEED a sway bar to keep it family friendly. is having one a really good idea? yes...but if driven carefully its ok. My ex drives a VW cabrio...and I've let her drive my Jeep before and she didn't have any issues with it, you just take corners slower and are more cautious(like anyone driving any lifted vehicle should be)Originally Posted by warthog

if he gets the RC 4.5LA kit that is a moot issue because it comes with quick disconnects for the sway bar.
yea, seems like a steal for like 1700.. cause i can get everything cheaper than skyjacker or rustys
