My Xj fails to prime as quickly as it should, needing cranking for about 10 secs before firing.

The "remedy" for this is to prime the pump by switching ignition on/off and it will fire right up

This is a 96 and the module contains the pump and regulator within the tank. The pump itself failed electrically

I swapped out the original module for the unit out of my spare XJ to keep me on the road and ordered a new Bosch pump

My question is where is the fuel non-return/check valve located ?. Is it in the regulator (as the attachment suggests), or is it in the fuel pump itself ?


If it is located in the regulator, I should fit the new fuel pump to the original module (which had no priming issues), refit that to my DD, and fit the other module to my spare XJ
