Default Faded Trim ?? (Back to Black)

Ok. So I searched "Fading trim" and got a couple responses but not what I was wanting. Has anyone used the Back to Black or other similar products with any success? I tried the Mothers brand on my wifes 01 Wrangler several years ago but was not impressed. Any insights/pics of successful remedies would be appreciated.

I have used "Back 2 black" and others but none of them really last too long. Any silicone based product does just about the same IMO...Tj

I just painted mine black. I had tried different products but they never lasted. I'll try and find out what paint we used (I did it at my buddy's autobody shop). We made sure that we masked it really well and were careful with overspray.

I have used this http://www.ipdusa.com/Universal-Prod...-202-617-1918/ and it is wonderful. It makes them look new again and it does not chip or peel off. GREAT stuff! Just use some Vinyl prep spray or some paint laquer thinner before hand to make sure there are no traces of silicone or armor all.

my neighbor who works at a car dealership said to use brake cleaner or brake oil to clean faded trim and bring back the color.... don't remember which one it was. he also said to make sure not to get any on the body.

DO NOT USE MOTHERS BACK TO BLACK! It down right sucks. It will only work on more porous materials. The side trim on my XJ was faded gray, I just used mine today and guess what color it is 20 mins later... GRAY! the only part it actually did well on was the Front and back end caps for the corners, They are more porous than the side trim but I guarantee it will only last for 1 or 2 washes. And if it survives them, the sun will re-fade it within a week. If you really need to get your trim back to black use Forever Black. It is a dye so it will last a couple months, and they guarantee it will last for over 50 washes. But it's kinda hard to find in stores, if you want it I suggest ordering it off eBay.

FOREVER BLACK!! lol use that it is way better than back to black. that stuff just makes it look wet. Forever black is the way to go. It actually dyes it black again. Might be blotchy (however you spell that) at first, but the second and third coat even it all out. Believe me it is worth it. I think the best price i found it was at amazon.com it even features a cherokee fender photo that someone submitted.

edit best shot of b4 front left. and now about 2 months if not 3 since i have applied Forever Black. And you can tell that they are shiny as well from the new pic haha

Most people use the Krylon Fusion (I've seen several threads on this subject), Some use 60% paint thinner and 40% boiled linseed oil.

X2!! Mine were faded even worse than BLACKSPORT's and the Forever Black worked like a champ. Quadratec has it too.
