Hey everybody. I reciently aquired a factory fog light switch at the junkyard. I would like to use it to run my roof lights and I was wondering if anybody here knows what the different color wires are coming from the pigtail.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I don't know about the lights, but I like the way your jeep is set up. I wanna go 31s with a three inch lift. Need to get everything else mechanically sound first, though. If you can afford 'em, go with dick cepek or BFG tires

The wiring for the factory fog lights run through a relay. It needs a relay because the amperage needed to run lights is too much for the switch. To use that switch for roof lights, you'll need to run it to a relay. The switch will activate the relay which will then provide power directly from the battery to the lights.

All I can tell from the wires coming out of the switch is that there is a black wire, a blue wire, an orange wire, and a purple wire. I know one of these is probably for the dash light, but I don't need that. I do plan on wiring up a relay when I wire up the new switch

That fog light wiring also has something to do with the factory headlights. In the factory configuration, when you turn on the high beams, it automatically shuts off the fog lights. Just use that switch to signal a relay that will feed the lights. Bypass the factory wiring. Thats how I would do it.

the "run" circuit is like a key off/high beam switched circuit. so they lights will turn off if the key is off or the high beams come on. this wire will also be back there. (at least it is on mine, mine didn't come with fog lights but the wiring is still there)
so wire the "run" and "illumination" wires to the factory wires. but run the others to the relay you install. I haven't gotten this far yet. but you might be able to use the factory relay location in the fuse block and fused circuit but run your wires to where your lights are instead of the factory location.... thats as far as i have gotten. hope it helps lol
