Default External Slave Cylinder Exploding

Hey! I have a 99’ xj with about 190k on it. It has the ax15 external slave cylinder on it. I was driving to work Monday and went to put it in gear at a light and was locked out of all gears and my clutch pedal would only go half way.

did a roadside slave cylinder replacement with the Luk slave cylinder and in the process of bleeding it the new one the spring mechanism that pushes the rod exploded and almost looked like the glue that held it together was melted or something.

i just returned it today and traded for another one brand new. Then the same exact thing happened again. So, since with the new one my clutch pedal would go to the floor ( with no pressure), I decided to test the old one that still has not exploded. Upon testing, the old one would still only go half way when bleeding and pressure is build and the rod gets stuck pushing out, unsure why.

has this ever happened to anybody? To bleed it, first I undo the plastic arms on the slave cylinder and pump with my hand to get bubbles out. Then I have somebody slowly compress the clutch pedal while at the same time I loosen the bleeding screw as he starts and tighten it towards the bottom. Then I have him pump the clutch a couple times and top the fluid. Then put the plastic arms back on the slave cylinder and put it in. It doesent build clutch pressure without exploding the slave cylinder. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just the brand slave cylinder I’m buying? I was thinking maybe the new slave cylinder and also same brand new master sylinder I put in, require a different brake fluid then DOT3?

thank you!

I just had a similar experience today, I came to a stop at a red light and when I pushed the clutch pedal in it went flat to the floor with no resistance on it at all, letting out my clutch and stalling my motor. I started it back up in 1st, jammed it into 3rd and just babied it 80 miles home. After getting home I looked over my jeep expecting a problem with the clutch pedal or master cylinder, because the master and slave cylinder were replaced 10,000 miles ago, just to see my slave cylinder has came apart and is dragging the ground. I came here to see if any experienced a similar problem.
