I've got a 96 Cherokee 2.5 2dr 5 speed that I recently purchased kind of as a project. I plan on letting my son use it when he turns 16. Anyway I've put a new slave cylinder on it. The old slave was bad but had a bleeder screw on top. The new slave has the same set up but there is no hole for fluid and air to come out of. I was sure this was just a bad part so I took them both back to the parts store to show them. They couldn't do anything but order me another one so they ordered 2. They came in a day or two later but both had the same issue. I still think something is wrong and somebody needs to know but in the mean time I've got to drive this for a while. It works but not well I have to keep pumping the clutch. What can I do? Is there another good way to bleed this hydraulic system without that bleeder valve? I have tried pulling the slave and pumping by hand looking for bubbles at the master but not sure if I'm doing it right. Can anybody help a brother out?

If you look on the slave cylinder there should be an allen head screw on the top of the slave cylinder. You can release the fluid and air through there. You need 2 people to bleed the system though. I have a 95 Cherokee with the same type of slave cylinder on it. You need to have the slave cylinder off the transmission. One person needs to push the clutch pedal down and hold it there. You would need to take the allen screw out and push the push rod all the way in and put the allen screw back in. Release the push rod and repeat until no more air comes out of the slave cylinder.
