Default Experience with RadiatorBarn.com? My new one fits a bit oddly.

My 96 4.0L Cherokee has been running pretty hot so I bought a 2-row aluminum radiator from RadiatorBarn.com. All of the important stuff seems to be in the right place, but I noticed that while my stock radiator has 2 top bolts that stick out, the new one has 4, and they're not in the right place, or the right size. I had to drill new holes in that metal piece that sits on top of the radiator. Even so, they don't extend far enough to protrude through, so I'll have to bend the metal shroud thing down so I can get some nuts in place to secure those bolts, and the radiator in place. The fit just doesn't seem quite "right".

Lots of people have used these guys, and I've never heard of these issues. I'm going to call them tomorrow before I start whacking things with hammers, but I was wondering if anyone else had bought their 2-row for their 4.0 Cherokee and had similar issues?

I had the same issue and if i remember correctly on the old rad there was an adapter to go from 4 bolts to 2 so I just put that on the new one and it worked fine.

Oh. I didn't realize those were adapters and could be removed. I just thought it was part of the old radiator.

Guess it's time to break out the JB Weld

Yea, I replace the one in my 96 and removed every screw and metal piece from the old one and tried to find mounting hole on the new one. In the end the bolt did not line up with the bracket on the passenger side, so i cut a strip if metal and drilled two holes to make a spacer to bolt the radiator in place. After 13 years not everything is made the same. I paid $125 for a new aftermarket radiator at an auto salvage place instead of $180 and up from the autoparts and dealer.
