40 series is not what you want, the 6 does not create enough pressure to get a clear crisp tone. Series 50 would be recommended, we had a 40 on our Lifted Colorado and it sounded terrible. Sold it to friend with a ram v8 and put a 50 on, very clear, still low enough, not raspy at all.

I had a 40 on my lifted Xj, it was raspy and muffled. It attempts to give the six a deep 8 sound and fails terribly. The 6 cylinder just cannot get enough pressure out to give the 40 a clear crisp tone, especially in rpms higher than 3k it sounds like a old ford explorer without a muffler.

Idk i really like the sound of this super 40 in this clip
I am also going to be running a full 2.5" system so that should help out with a deeper tone right?

Call flowmaster, ask for a series 50 muffler with a 2.5 inlet and outlet(or whatever size pipe you are using), I had a 40 at 2.25" on the jeep and it sounded very very raspy, ended up getting a cat back for a wrangler from magnaflow, much better.
If you want Flowmaster, call and get sizes, their website is terrible.

Im having trouble finding the flomaster original 40 series in a 2.5" center in offset out. I checked performance curve jegs and summit. Anyone know where to find one? I did find the super 40 in what i need, what do you guys think about that series instead of the original as far as sound and performance?

I used to sell my kits (for the 4.0's) with the Super 40, they sound good but I think the Super 44 sounds better which is why we switched to this muffler. The 44 will give a deeper tone.
I have to disagree. Chances are the Colorado had the inline 5 cyl which will sound like crap on a 40 series. I work with guys who run the 44 and it sounds very good.

What's up with all those different chambers and baffles and deflectors and objects that interrupt the smooth exhaust flow

Check this out, Banks Header Magnaflow High flow cat and Stainless Catback Fast Man 62MM TB K&N. Gobs of low end 15-16 mpg, staying out of it. Chek out my other videos, there's an in-cab Drifting 14 seconds of Wide open throttle.
