Exhaust Question

What is the part of the exhaust system that makes the sound?

I dont have much money and i want to maybe buy 1 or 2 things that makes my xj sound sweet.

The muffler and the pipe size make the sound. Throw a Cherry Bomb muffler in place of the factory one and it will make it sound good. Go to you tube and look up "Cherokees with cherry-bombs" to get an Idea. They only cost about $20...Tj

Muffler,cat and pipes.I put a highflow cat back system on and it sounded good .Then my cat went out and I replaced it with a highflow cat and it sounded even better.
