Default flowmaster exhaust install

ive been looking for a new exhaust for my 93 xj, i want a nice deep and throaty sound but not empty my pockets. rustys seems to have a nice package (40 series is the one im gonna go for bcz ive heard good things) and i want to know if its completely bolt on or not. i have simple tools to get the job done but i would like to know if its a difficult job? if you have a write-up or some pics it would be helpful bcz this is the first exhuast i will be doing. also, if there is a cheaper alternative to the same sound please let me know. (ive heard stuff about taking the tailpipe off after the muffler and such??). thanks

If you have the funds have someone do it for you,if not cut it out with a sawsall and use couplers to reinstall it with clamps, just make sure you do not snooker yourself where you cannot put it back the way it was.
I always take the route if I do not have the right tools I buy them and have them next time.

Best to have it done somewhere, you'll be happy with the flowmaster. It has a nice sound to it.

cut out the old one at the cat and it is direct bolt on. unless you want to weld it. it can be done with basic hand tools. you'll most likely need to buy more clamps bc IIRC rusty's doesnt give you enough

so basically the stock exhaust is weled to the cat? i thought everything was clamped together but apparently this will be harder than i thought. so what did you use to cut the exhaust off exactly? and how much will an exhuast shop charge me if i have them do it?

A muffler shop shouldnt charge you more than say 60 bucks to do the work at the most (assuming the kit has about everything you need). Many shops will charge under the table for a quick job rather than their shops price. It shouldnt take longer than a few hours either (in case they run into snags with rust or something). I dont know how much your package is, but if you are going to spend the money on that, why not spend the money to get it done right? Idc what kind of vehicle you have, a car/jeep/truck with an exhaust AND an exhaust leak will sound like crap.

I'd say put it in yourself. doing it right and doing it yourself shouldn't be mutually exclusive. Just do a good job. exhaust shop is going to hack your exhaust off after the cat, probably with a sawsall, perhaps with a cut off wheel or tourch. I highly doubt some one can cut pipe better than you enough to pay for it (unless you don't have tools). then they are going to put the new one in and clamp it together just like you would. They will probably weld it where it meets the cat, but you could clamp it.

I don't know anything about your kit but im running a 2.5" 50 series flowmaster with my 2.5 tail pipe, adapting from 2.5-2.25 is a tad tricky, but i don't know what the rustys kit is.

Use a sawzall. Indespensible tool.

i would not pay someone to do what you will do ne way but that is just my philosophy

I just received a flowmaster I got from Performance-curve. My 2000 cherokee has a flange at the Cat, the flowmaster doesnt have a flange. Any ideas on the steps I should take (cutting, adapters, etc...)?
