Had a shop replace freeze plugs.. They found the exhaust manifold was cracked. I told them to go ahead and change it out.

Now they are saying the EGR port location on the new manifold is slightly off from where the old one was. They offered to either plug it or come up with a solution to maintain the EGR.

Question... What if any ill effects will plugging the EGR have on drivability, gas mileage etc. I could care less if a check engine light comes on but don't want to sacrifice drivability or mileage, etc.

1. There really shouldn't be any ill effects. Some say that EGR actually promotes SLIGHTLY better fuel economy but I have never been able to see a difference with vs without on any vehicle.

2. There's no check engine light on your Jeep to worry about.

My vote is to just plug it UNLESS you have to pass vehicle emissions. If you do then I would have them put the right manifold on or make it work assuming they sourced the manifold and you didn't hand them a part to install.
