Exhaust manifold to downpipe bolts!
Ok I've got a problem with loose exhaust bolts. I'm sure this has been experienced by many jeepers but I just wanted to get some advice. I have a 2000 XJ with the dreaded California emissions so I have a two piece exhaust manifold. The four bolts that connect to the downpipes keep working themselves loose causing an exhaust leak and I want to find a permanent solution because they're a royal PITA to get to because of the pre-cats. I've tightened these things twice now and they're loose again. Does anyone have any ideas here? Should I just go to the hardware and get new bolts and lock nuts? Thanks in advance.

No real help here. Was me I might try different lock washers. I've seen bronze hardware recommended for exhaust stuff. Double nut them? (lock-washer between)
