Would exhaust leak or crack headers reduce MPG?

They're both good options honestly. You'd be happy with either. I coulda sworn the APN came with a lifetime warranty but I don't see that on their site anymore. I will say though, their header is great quality.

The 3 year warranty on the one from Serious is a huge plus. I can't speak to its quality though. But, Frank sells it so it can't be any less than great

And like I said in an earlier post, check out your motor mounts. I bet they're shot. It'd be a good idea to replace them while you're down in there or you risk cracking your headers again

I've got an APN header on my XJ (Along with about half or more members do too) and you can't beat the price...... Plus it has a lifetime warranty can't go wrong with that in my opinion.
On a side note, I just started a claim for another one cause I went wheeling and managed to knock my tail pipe loose. It ended up causing a lot of movement in my exhaust system and cracking my header..... I've heard great things about their customer service and am waiting a reply to my email I pretty much just sent them. Ill keep you posted. Hope this helps you out in your decision.

Do you have the one I'm looking at that's like $140?

Thanks

Did you notice any performance gain or a nicer sounding exhaust?

Cheers

Performance gain, yes. Swapped the cracked OEM one for upgraded, solid headers. Better MPGs, smoother idle.

Better sound, can't really say. Only because I bolted the headers up and drove straight to the exhaust shop to get my muffler/tailpipe installed. On the short drive to the exhaust shop, it did sound deeper, which was awesome. So much better with a catback exhaust though

A vendor on here named 'Mudfrog" sales a great cat back system. I have it as well. You can find it here: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f10/ne...st-kits-45131/

Just ordered it! After looking, it looks like my cracks are on the manifold, so this will be great! I'm wondering though, is the pipe that goes from the manifold to the catalytic converter included as well, or is that separate? The page says it includes the manifold, two gaskets, hardware, and instructions. Is that considered part of the manifold? I was just wondering, since if I have additional cracks on that, if I'll need to replace it as well.
