Exhaust Kits - WHICH ONE??
Wanting to upgrade the ol' stock. I'm looking for quality and max performance (and looks). Dynomax is least expensive, but Gibson, Magnaflow and Borla all offer a cat-back as well... Want my money well-spent.
So fellow XJ owners, what say you??
BTW, pics of your exhaust tip would help!

it was real simple for me. trashed my muffler and put a straight pipe in its place. never looked back, and super happy. thats just me..
Buy a hi flow cat from summit.. glasspack or cheap muffler. have exhaust shop build you a custom 2.5" exhaust. if you want looks buy a chrome tip. get out of it 4 around 200 bucks and have a full performance exhaust. worth it to replace it all at once and make it a FAST Cherokee haha have fun

what he said...
I have a magnaflow highflow cat and highflow dynomax cat back on mine and love it. The dynomax comes with a polished tip welded on and everything is direct bolt on. No adapters or anything needed. It was around $250 for all. Even came with all the clamps and hangers.

i got a single chamber muffler welded on right where the cat attached... the other end is open... sounds great! single chamber mufflers are what the hot rod guys use when there running a cam to get that deep rumble sound... i love it... just need to get a high flow cat and run it the rest of the way back... its pretty loud with the doors off and my old cat was shot and was causing it not to run right so i did this as a temp fix

Right now JEGS is offering 50$ off dynomax cat-back exhausts. So, about 100$ or less for catback with the MIR.
Otherwise, depending on the money you want/have to spend. I would recommend, magnaflow/bullet performance, aero turbine (spendy, but worth it), or the dynomax ultraflo (similar to magnaflow with its straight thru design. )

Rustys offroad has a nice kit that uses a flowmaster two chamber. It sounded bad a$$ on mine. Under 200 at the time. Not sure what they run now. It bolted right up easy.
if i could have done it again i would have spent the extra money and went with a magnaflow cat and a single chamber. probably still would have went with the flowmaster knockoff from ebay. i can't justify a $100 muffler. thats ridiculous. 40 bucks off ebay and you have basically the same thing. are jeeps are not hot rod powerhouses. thats like spending an extra 400 to get mandrel bent pipes instead of the good ol crimped ones. theres no need of it and its a waste of money. these jeeps love just a good free flowing exhaust. hi flow cat, performance muffler, and 2.5" pipe is a win win combo!!

Check out the XJ exhaust from Iron Rock Offroad. My buddy got his with the magnaflow highflow cat for his '89. He gets better fuel economy and it sounds nice and throaty. I think I'm probably going to get the same thing for mine

you can also order it with a flowmaster super 40 muffler if you call them to place your order.
