Well, after a very fun day of dealing with a broken cross member and an engine that was sagging down so far it hit the hood, I now can’t get my exhaust to bolt back up to the collector/manifold. No matter what I do, I can’t get but one stud though the little mounting plate, and i’ve tried to jack the exhaust up and push on it in every way, and it still doesn’t want to bolt back up.
I ended up leaving only 1 bolt attached, and now it sounds like I’m riding a lawnmower around, and I hate it.
From what i can tell however, is that the exhaust might’ve been bent when the crossmember broke the stud off. I’ve even tried “bending” it back into place but to no avail. Im really just looking for either a solution, or a temporary one like some muffler cement to seal it up, since I never plan on taking it off again

Horrible. I’m planning on replacing them all because the whole cab vibrates at idle and the gear shift moves forward about an inch when I step on the gas. Originally Posted by roninofako

Weird thing is that when I swapped out my transmission with the motor mounts and trans mount all messed up, it was fine. But I never tried “leveling” the engine. I’ll give that a go later today
consider stuff may have got bent when the cross member failed. you may have bent exhaust that wont line up now. also consider the engine mounts may have torn, which may cause the vibration.
bummer.

If I can’t get it back together, i’ll cut the exhaust to bolt it back up, and then bend the exhaust back to re-connect it to the other part and weld it back together. Originally Posted by robsjeep

Methinks you're going to be replacing a lot more than just mounts. Everything wore out to the point of the crossmember failing, that's pretty significant, no wonder nothing lines up. You might get lucky, but definitely replace all your mounts, that will get the engine and trans back to proper height where it needs to sit...
