White smoke is often a symptom of burning coolant. This equates to a blown head gasket or worse, a cracked engine block.
When you changed the oil, did you notice it's color and consistency? Was there evidence of coolant in the oil, it being milky and discolored? That would be evidence of coolant mixing with the oil. Still, you could have coolant entering the combustion chambers but not getting into the oil galleys, so it is possible to have one of these issues and it not mixing with the oil itself.
I'd look carefully at this. One interesting trick I was shown a while back to diagnose this is having access to a shop that has an emission tester. The vehicle has to be warmed up and the radiator cap has to be opened. The emission probe is placed in the filler neck, but not submerged. If there is a reading, and it doesn't have to be a real high one either, then there is exhaust getting into the cooling system which is a positive sign of at least a blown head gasket.

Since it's a 2.5TD, and it was recently in a flood, it might be a simple as a little water in the fuel supply, and the white smoke is the water burning off as steam. JMO.

+1 water in the fuel system. You sure it's white SMOKE, not STEAM?
IIRC a lot of things can cause white smoke in a turbo diesel... did the turbo get soaked too?
