is it physically possible to completely remove the stock oil pan gasket from my 91 4.0 Ive been working on it like 10 hours and have gotten like no where at all its really starting to **** me off

Oh it is possible, just got mine done yesterday from a group of friends and it took about 4 hours from start to finish a rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Keep scraping and good luck...Tj

Yes it is possible. Never done it but from what I understand undo your control arms to move the front axle some to give you a little more room. I think its still gonna take some playing with tho. Here's ^ where the experts chime in. Ha ha

took you 4 hours for both of that? not too bad! took me 5 by myself

well i got the pan off and the gasket off that but the block is just a pain

It's not hard, drop the pan, unbolt the pickup tube and oil pump and slide the pan back and out. Scrape the gasket off with a good razor blade. Should only be a hour or 2 at the most.

did you have the factory gasket on there?

use a wire wheel on a drill or dremel . 10 min max to get all of the old crap off.

haha, I'm a noob, changing out my rear main seal by dropping the oil pan too. Good rainy day for it! anyways, for us other noobs, what's the best way to get this thing off? pry or scrape or both?

Roloc pads in a 90degree die grinder work great for removing old stuck on gaskets. You can get the pads at NAPA, but you will the attatchment in order to chuck them up in a die grinder.

DO NOT USE any POWER tools to clean the block..all that fine dust..might as well thow cup of sand in there to.. sharp gasket scraper myself 1 inch wood chissle works great

x2 on the roloc high speed discs or any such item. takes minutes to do the job. You always want to remove all the old junk or be prepared to do it all over again.
