I have not purchased this small engine air filter, but I believe it is very, very similar to the one I found on our 2001 Jeep XJ: The complete unit I find online is forty bucks and more!

 

I found a Tecumseh filter locally for $150 Mexican Pesos (about nine USD). It took a little work to adapt it, but now we are good for another 24 years or so (don't think this filter was ever changed since factory new). Since the "replacement" filter was open on both ends, I cut off the closed end from the old filter and used black gasket maker to affix it on one end. Since the replacement filter was slightly smaller in diameter, I used four tiny pieces of "packing foam" to make sure it stayed centered. Since the filter was slightly shorter, a little foam under the cap to take up that very small space as well.
