getting a po1495 leak pump solenoid circuit and po443 purge control solenoid circuit. Easy enough to replace the parts but can there be other causes than a defetive part? I can hear the leak pump motor running?

On my 1998 XJ I had a engine light. I checked and found codes P0105 and P1494. I had a purge valve solenoid in my parts box so I swapped them out.
It took all of about 2 minutes and then I cleared the codes. The engine light has not come off and I have run about 200 miles.
