Hoping for some expert help. Hello, Dave here. I have a 96 Cherokee, 4.0. Engine Light stays on, due to (i Think) a code 12. This is the only code I get, using the onboard read out on the dash. I have disconnected the battery, Changed the Battery, I have cleared the code with a scanner, but the light comes back on after a couple of days. I have not found out how to fix this. I understand that it is nothing to worry about, but that light just bothers me. Is there a fuse/relay i need to check? if those are okay, I maybe down to wiring or PCM? Correct?

are you getting 55 also end of test?

 

Yes. it flashes a 12, then the 55 (end of Test)

 

have you disconnected the battery yet to clear i no it sounds backward but thats how you clear codes

 

Yes, I have done that multiple times

 

maybe a scanner is needed to clear with out disconnecting bat never heard of any body with this issue
