Yep. ALL XJ 6 Cyl 4.0 Blocks are the same for all years 87-2001. The heads were changed through the years but will fit ALL XJ Blocks.
The ONLY difference will be sensors added through the years. The later year ones moved various sensors and added some.
Just move/replace your sensors on your old engine to the new one. If that fails, use your intake/exhaust manifolds with the replacement motor too.
