Engine Starts and then quits
01 Jeep Chrokee, 4L, auto with remote start
Jeep would start, run 1-2 seconds and quit.
Code says invalid key and No Bus.
Key is the same as always.
Any help would be apprciated.

"No bus" is a common message among Jeepers... it means something is wrong with the databus that links the control units.
The databus carries the info between the SKIM module and the PCM to allow you to start the engine. The PCM gives you that initial start while it confirms with the SKIM... but the SKIM isn't answering, so the PCM shuts down again.
It can be a failed bus-element in a control unit, open wiring, shorted wiring, etc...
Modules on the bus:
PCM, SKIM, ABS, SRS, EATX (tranmission controls), radio, amplifier, MIC (instrument cluster), EVIC (overhead console display)
Unplug all except the PCM and SKIM and see if it starts. If it does, plug each back in... starting the engine each time until you narrow it down to a controller.

SKIM-related stalling issue
[B]Is the "data bus" itself a part that can go bad? If so, can it be replaced? In my 99 Cherokee (4.0) every couple of months my SKIM indicator light stays on, the gauges go dead, and the jeep runs OK like that for a few days. Then it goes into full SKIM lockdown--stalls 2 seconds after starting. Dealer runs diagnostics which are inconclusive, but problem clears for several weeks. Just replaced the SKIM module, but problem is back 6 weeks later. I REALLY don't want to replace the PCM. Dealer thinks instrument cluster might be faulty, but that is expensive as heck, too. Think the data bus could be bad? Thanks!
