Default Engine smells very hot!

Changed oil 2 days ago and got trans fluid changed today no leaks visable. I drove to work (about 5 miles at 50 mph) the weather is not hot, its actually pretty chilly for a change.

I got out of the Jeep at work and could smell what seemed to be a burning oil smell or like the engine VERY hot. Coolant seems fine and flowing through the system and my dummy temp light does not come on for high temp.

Any Ideas?

Did you perhaps spill a little oil or tranny fluid? I know I always do when I'm doing my oil change because I never want to take the time to find the funnel and think I can just dump it right in that little hole. Some always misses, and it burns off over the next couple days.

Funny enough I usually DO spill lots of oil all over the place. I was actually slow and steady this time and didnt spill. Could still be some trans fluid from where the shop did the trans work. Ill give it a couple days. If it still smells strange ill keep looking.

Sounds like a plan! Definitely if you are still smelling it in another couple days you should crawl underneath and make sure nothing is amiss.

Update: Drove to work and home today and did not smell anything. Seems like it was just some burn off from oil or trans. On to the next fluid change I guess. lol
