Default Engine question

i'm in badly need of a new motor for my 99 cherokee, my question is what year motors would I be able to swap into my cherokee sport. It's an automatic trans also.

Any help would be appreciated or if you know someone relatively local with a good motor. I'm located in Central NJ.

Thanks

All the stock blocks are the same. You can get one from really any year but they changed the head a few times. But all and all just get any year and get your head worked and just put all your componets back on it.

x2

if you can, see about getting one out of a '95. from my understanding, the heads on those were the strongest ones on a stock motor. if you are not willing to hold onto the intake manifold, would you mind selling it?

I found a good running 96 4.0 motor, would I be able to just swap on my 99 intake mani and put the 96 motor in and run her right up? thanks
