Engine pops and sputters after hot

Engine pops and sputters after hot
1996 XJ 4.0 190k miles
A week ago I drove across town (90* temp) to a friends house, parked and about 5 minutes later went back to start the jeep and it immediately started to buck and sputter and pop to where the jeep would not accelerate as with the more that I pushed the accelerator the more that it wouldn't respond and sputter and pop more.
I replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor as it was time for one. It seemed to fix it until today where I drove across town in 90* temps and this time at a light it did the same exact thing as before.
What do you guys think it is?

Just a tad more info:
No codes or engine light and no signs of overheating the engine. Temp gauge never goes above 210*.

I had a very similar problem a couple of months ago, and it ended up being a bad upstream O2 sensor. I verified it by unplugging the sensor, and it ran fine. I didn't get any codes or a CEL either.
