Default Engine Help

hey im having trouble with my jeeps engine its a 6 cylinder 4.0 liter, it makes a weird popping noise between 1000 and 2000 rpm when i step on the gas and sometimes stalls out when it idles, but in a new spark plug coils, new fuel filter, new spark plugs, new cold air intake, could it be the fuel injectors?

Could be a bad motor mount.

I'd would vote either motor mounts or harmonic balancer..but would lean towards motor mounts..Does this popping only happen when driving or when in park reving the engine?

It happens both but once i step down on the gas full it pops a couple more times and seem as if it starts of at 2000 rpm, like if you where to rev the engine in nuetral the put it straight into drive

So how does a bad motor mount cause a misfire condition?

Magic.

I'd make sure you got the plug wires on right, and double check timing. Maybe run some fuel injector cleaner through it, but popping sounds like misfire to me. Maybe one of the plug wires is loose?

Also check the cap/rotor for wear, they are cheap items and I'm surprised you didn't change them when you did the other things. I'd also do wires, bad wires can lead to misfires.

Maybe a productive response would serve the user better.

How does bad info help the guy either?

You'd have been better off telling him to use the Search feature or not posting at all.

A rough motor could be caused by improper timing, since the rig is a 00 and has no distributor the cam and crank sensors my be out of sync. The dealership in your area can reset it (if needed) with a DRB Scan Tool.

Do you have a Check Engine Light (CEL) on? If yes, have you pulled the codes yet? What are they.

No codes and a rough idle...I'd pop the valve cover and start looking at the rockers. Check for any play in any of the rockers.

Done a wet compression test yet? No? Get busy.
