The bearing in the water pump is permanently lubed and sealed away from contact with water/coolant. The pump bearing is not lubed by water/coolant. If water/coolant get past the seal, the bearing will be gone in short order.

Bump.
How do you back flush the heater core?
I have a new radiator to put in, old one split.
My plan is remove the water pump to radiator hose. Then remove t-stat and put the hose in there. (engine running?)
But should the heater control be on cold/hot, and do I need to pull the heater hoses off and back flush it by itself? And if so which heater hose do I put the garden hose into?
Rig is a 99 XJ 4.0.
