Exclamation which engine???

hi. i posted on here about maybe swappin a diesel into my 600,000 mile cherokee. I found a couple new possible motors. The Liberty CRD and The Mercedes-Sourced common rail diesel out of the newer Grand Cherokees. What do you all think? I'm considering the Liberty CRD. Not sure of the demensions of it or if it will bolt up to my trans...

Think it has been done and the bottom line was that it was a little underpowered for the heavier Cherokee. The GC would be a better match or even a Cuminns 4BT has been touted as the ideal small diesel for the Cherokee. They are not cheap but will last forever.

Actually, haha, the jeep has the cruddy little 2.5...And I actually only rebult it once. I check my fluids every 2 weeks or less. But yea, that is alot of miles for a Cherokee. Now then, to my main concern, if I swap in either a 4BT or the Grand Cherokee/ Liberty CRD, can I keep it street legal?

i just think you have better possibilities with diesel more upgrades like turbos, propane injection, and bio diesel. and who doesnt like seeing that tall tower of black smoke when you put the skinny pedal to the floor!!!

they make a diesel xj overseas, but i would probably be harder to source the parts then to fab brackets and install something else. and the cummings would be better anyways

diesels are some of the cleanest burning engines out there plus they get better mpg on top of that!
