Electrical spares survival kit
Prompted partially by having to rescue my XJ a few hundred miles from home, when the alternator failed
(my son was borrowing it for a surfing trip)
I have put together a set of electrical spare parts, pulled from going wrecks
* '96 PCM..stored under front seat
* OEM sensors, CPS, CAM, TPS, IAC, MAP, front O2 + coil, rotor button, fuses...stored under rear seat
* '96 fuel pump assembly, starter motor, dizzy, alternator..(I have these, but not stowed in vehicle yet)
Also carry tools, lithium jump starter, wire
Any suggestions? What do others carry?

That's quite a list!
The only sensor I ever keep a spare of is the crank position sensor in the glove box. ECM's and Coils hardly ever fail. I've had CPS's fail in the past. What I do now is replace the CPS with a new one when I buy a high-mile vehicle, and put the old CPS in the glove box. Never had a second one fail though.

I also have a torch and for me, an AA Gold card. Already had to use the AA card once. As much as I sometimes feel it'd be great to buy a small tool kit to keep in it, I never do.
I suppose you could carry a hell of a lot if you really wanted to. Maybe it'd be worth having some contact cleaner spray?

No road Service I know off will help or recover you from some places I go
Do intend to join the local Jeep Club, they would most likely help out.
I paid less than $200 for my list of parts.
Eventually your PCM will fail, if you are far from home, you can kiss your XJ goodbye
several species of deadly snakes in my neck of the woods..just dont get bitten in the 1st place!

You mentioned tools but specifically I try to make sure I have a breaker bar and appropriate deep impact socket that will fit the lug nuts of that vehicle. The lug nut tool that comes with most vehicles is less than desirable. The deep socket helps get the needed clearance out from the fender so that you can apply force to the breaker bar to help loosen stubborn lug nuts. An appropriate sized block of wood can provide a stable platform for the jack on soft ground.

This forum is cursed. Today I was left in a no start situation and it turned out to be a relay. ABS relay in the starter slot and it started right up. As my ABS is non functional, I see the relay slot as a spare relay holder.

I carry an electrical first aid kit daily. It's in a tackle style box I picked up from the hardware store but it consists of a little bit of 14 gauge wire, spare fuses, ATC, mini and Maxi fuses, short sections of shrink wrap, dykes, wire strippers/crimpers and various types and sizes of connectors.
When i leave the local area or go wheeling I throw in a 7.62mm ammo can that contains every sensor that can cause the Jeep to not run at all.
