Question electrical problem. Need help.

So here's the issue, every time I start my vehicle my radio/headunit turns on like normal, but as soon I turn on my headlights the radio turns off and I have to turn the headlights off for the radio to work again. Any idea of what might be causing this? Any help would be great! Thanks!

I'm going to assume it's an aftermarket deck, and that you weren't the one to install it. Whoever wired it in probably wired it to the headlight switch somehow, probably on accident. You could take the deck out and trace the power wires. Be sure to check positive, ground, AND memory wires. All the cars i've had with aftermarket stereos used the wiring system from the stock radio, but who knows, someone may have gotten creative with the wiring!

They most definitely did, I pulled the headunit to check it out.. wires everywhere. I think I may have to rewire everything back there now. Anyone know of a diagram or the like that shows how to wire it all back up to the way it's supposed to be?

If it's anything like my jeep with a real spiffy aftermarket TAPE PLAYER, the wiring is a disaster. one of the wires is wearing out in mine... sometimes my speakers cut out. As far as a diagram, the one time i did the wiring myself, i had a new deck i was putting in my ol' camaro, and it came with a wiring diagram. real simple, just match colors. but if your jeep is REALLY messed up in there, you might wanna try google.

Thanks for the help! I'll see if I can find anything around the web. I need to find out which wires are the headlights and tailights, really. Can anyone chime in on that?
