Default Electrical Nightmare

Well I’m pretty sure this is when normal people send their Cherokee to the bone yard 😂 but we know it’s worth the hassle!
In my last post I’ve been trying to trouble shoot an electrical problem with my transmission so I pulled the harness from the hood to get a good look at everything out of the rig. I was hoping to find some obvious melted wire but nothing shows a clear problem with the transmission wires. I did find some other questionable stuff though.
I need some help matching up some wires for the wiper blades the plug and the harness got separated. The plug is from a newer year cherokee and I need help knowing which wires match up with each other. Some other photos of connections I think are problematic but
wipers first.

Plug colors

Harness colors

Fuse box coated on black goop ?

Lots of splices in the harness is this normal ?

Anything else I should do while the harness is out ??

Go to Cruiser54's web site @ http://cruiser54.com. He not only has Renix stuff (N/A for you) but technical materials for other model years as well. You should find some good reference materials there.

As for splices in general , Yes. The various FSMs all show splices in the various harnesses. Can't say that one is a factory splice or not.

I would use some twist ties to old the bundles together while you work on it to keep it "unraveling".

Download FSM's for appropriate schematics/colors.

If that goop is getting hard (and it tends to over time), clean it out and re-grease with a thick silicon grease.
