Exclamation Electrical issue help please

ok heres what happened. battery died due to lights being on. got it jumped but wires got put on backward. ecu got hooped and both alt fuses blew changed that. engine runs fine all lights work. drives fine

but now the instrument cluster doesn't work at all. and fuse 17 a 7.5A fuse is blown on the under dash fuse block. could someone could tell me what that fuse is connected to and what possibly could be the issue with my instrument cluster.

i took a multi meter to fuse 17 and it showed up as 14 volts with the jeep on so i know theres a dead short somewhere but if someone could tell me what fuse 17 goes to or possibly give me a diagram of the fuse i would be forever grateful.

Default Maybe i could get some help with my problem too!

I have a similar issue. The 88 jeep cherokee i own how was in 2 rollover accidents and the last time it was repaired many things were not finished, like getting the cruse control to work again, (wiring issue) replacing dead window motors and for some reason the battery will be dead if the jeep is not driven for 3 or more days, even with a brand new battery put in. As the years went on other things started to go wrong and no service center wanted to even diagnose things on the car that didn't deal with the drive-line.
Anyway , so currently the oil pressure gauge is dead (not working and needle past 0) , the radio and the cigarette lighter outlet doesn't work, however the back light on the radio works when the lights are on. Checked the fuse box and no fuses are blown. This happened one day when my fathers phone charger was being plug into the cigarette lighter there was a pop and the fuse in the charger was blown, that was replaced but there was no other fuses blown and now theirs no power to those three items.

Anyone got any ideas?
One mechanic told me that the radio should be replaced and it was because of a bad stock radio.

Yea jeeps are known for their crappy wiring. I had my dash light go out for a few days, fuse still good, then i got mad and started hitting the dash and it works again.

What year xj you got pal as it does help to know as electrical systems changed during its production run, but from personal knowledge the 2000 my car had fuse 17 as a 15amp protecting the radio. Earlier cars had it as a 10amp protecting the cluster, so that must be the one.

The fault could be the cluster its self, try disconecting the cluster out of the circuit then replace the fuse, if it blows again then you need to dig out the multi meter and try to find the short, .If the fuse holds up then the cluster is fried.
I must admit auto electrics are not my forte but it should be a case of start at the part that dont work and work back to fuse.
