Default Electric fan

I have this thing going on with the electric fan. 1st, it is constantly kicking on then immediately shutting off, (driving me nuts) 2nd, if it is night time, it cause the lights to blink(?) for lack of a better word, every time it comes on. I checked the battery terminals, they are tight and clean. Battery is relatively new (2yrs old). No other power drain seems to cause this, i.e.: brakelights, turn signal, etc. I am thinking I have a short somewhere in the fan itself, I didn't really dig into the wiring yet but I definitely did not see any breaks/slices in the wiring going up to the fan. Does this prob sound familiar to anyone else?

normal condition,

the fan will run when:

a/c is on. [of course]

when defrost has been selected, or defrost and foot blend.

try turning your control to full floor air flow, betcha the fan stops cycling.

if it is turning on and off very quickly, this is also a sign of low freon for the a/c system.

Huh, you know I do have the defrost/ foot blend selected. I will try that. Thanks for the info. How about the lights dimming, that doesn't seem normal. I know the fans pull alot of current but it shouldn't be that much?

hhhmmm. some draw is normal, when the fan kicks in.

do they really dim out?

or just kinda flicker slightly?

I know my lights will twitch?! when the fan comes on with the a/c and headlights in use.

Well, it probably is more like a twitch, but I never had another vehicle that did that, and even though it has done it since I got her back in the spring, I guess I just couldn't take anymore of it the other night. Ya know one of those things that just kept digging at me on a long drive home, haha.
