Should I convert my 96 5.2 Jeep Grand Cherokee to and electric fan?

I dunno...should you?

Jokes aside, it depends on what you'll be using the vehicle for. If you go offroad (low speed) a lot, yes you will. If this is just your normal hwy driver, then the standard clutch fan will be better at cooling your engine than an electric fan (as long as the clutch is functioning correctly).

Try asking in the Grand Cherokee section - they know the setup better over there. This is for the normal Cherokee.

Belt driven mechanical fans really hump when it comes to moving air, especially if the fan clutch is good. To get the equivalent CFM, efan(s) will have to have some serious amp draw, which places more load on the motor via the alternator. Coolant temps probably remain more consistent with mechanical since it's always pulling at least some air thru the rad.

Thank for the advise. Another though is putting a small electric fan in for better cooling. Because in town during the summer when it is hot the temp goes up at the stop lights. Goes close to the red then driving goes back down.

Probably didn't overheat when new so some good ol' R&R routine cooling system maintenance is all that is needed.

Not 100% on fit, but dirtboundoffroad.com makes a triple E-fan setup for XJ. YOu would have to contact them and ask about fit for ZJ
