My door locks only work when they want to, (electric locks) the fuse is fine, when they dont work i get a click from the passenger door where the switch is, and thats it. They just start and stop working randomly. Any help is appreciated, 98 2 door

The electric locks in my 96 4 door sometomes dont unlock the rear doors and you have to reach in to unlock them but it does sound like they unlock but they dont and this can get frustrating at times

I just bought a 95 GCL, inline 6 4dr and just the passenger side and the lift gate locks do not work. I had to break the drivers side lock off because of some welding done on the doorlatch which melted the locking mechanism and I couldn't physically lock or unlock the door, but the problem existed before removing the mech. The drivers side rear works great, and I show an intermittent short in the wires going to both passenger door locks and the lift gate lock. PLEASE HELP!!!
P.S. I have applied 12V to all three locking mecs and they work great, but the switch will not move them!
Thanks!

Same problem as mine. I had my friend out new speakers in , and put some **** behind the speakers that converts loose noise to 'bass' or w/e, got it with the jeep, and didnt cut where it hangs below the door skin so it dosnt fully pop into place , i believe in my case its only the actuator as my driver door is the only one i cant lock, even with my fob., the only downfall of having it done at a technical high school, its not 100% reliable. but hey the speakers work great. :P,
Edit: but my windows on everyone elses doors dont go down i have to do it on my driver door, any idea what that could be, maybe related to your problem

There's a TSB (NO: 23-03-98) for '97-98 Cherokees regarding non-fuctioning door locks. The procedure is to look through the hole at the door edge and locate the 5/32" Allen head screw. Unloosen the screw and operate the door latches several times to release the tension then retighten the screw to 30 in/lbs.
This worked on my r/r door that had to be opened from the inside.

Ok i had the same problem i redid the battery in the remote switch (small fix) then i took the wires outta my door and found that some wires were rotten and only contact at certain points so i would check that out. but yeah let me know if this works i had about 6-8 wires rotten in my drivers door that i had to rewire like my window switches wouldnt go up and down unless i had the door open because of the point of contact on the wire harness but the lights were on each individual panel but werent goign up and down easy fix id have to say nothing a few soudering cant do
