1990 Cherokee Laredo. The doors wont unlock most of the time from the drivers door unlock button. All four lock buttons are very hard to lock/unlock.
Is it inside door linkage or the buttons ? Any problems taking door panels off to access problems ? Thanks

First step would be to clean and lubricate the door latches. Lubricate the rod where it goes into the actuator with a silicone lubricant. I wasn't willing to remove the latches so I took off the interior door panel and shot carburetor cleaner into the latch area and worked the rods by hand. I gave it an hour to dry and then used a silicone lubricant. All 4 doors and the hatch now work.
If that doesn't fix it the next step is to verify that you're getting 12 volts to each actuator. If you're not, move closer to the fuse box checking the voltage. When you get to where you have 12 volts there is probably an open between that point and the actuator, best guess where the wires pass through the door. If you don't have 12 volts at the fuse box, move towards the PDC checking the voltage.
If you have 12 volts at the actuators they might be going bad.
Given that it's a 1990 you might want to take a look at this thread. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthrea...ower+door+lock

I would not recommend using carb cleaner as it can remove paint. Lithium grease to lubricate. simple green and a tooth brush works great on locks. Like Zoider said all else fails check electrics. Good luck, if you need any more info I am collision tech and could possible guide you.
Do you have to remove the latch to use the simple green and toothbrush method to clean it? I have big hands and haven't found a way to get into the latch. I've been thinking about removing the piece in the photo below to see if I get better access.

Any suggestions?
