Default EGR ???s 87 cherokee

Just bought an EGR for my 87 4.0> looks nothing like the one thats there now. It has a seperate plastic saucer like thing off to the side, the one there now looks just like a saucer, no plastic.

Will this new one work providing bolt holes are the same??

This thing wasn't cheap either.....

x2 maybe yours is missing. New one has a black plastic saucer and couple vacuum lines holding it to the egr. Use the Vacuum hose routing diagram under the hood to make sure everything is correct

got it replaced. Did not fix the problem, which is....
After driving for a while 20 mins or so, I can turn her off and when i restart i have to give it gas to keep her running for about 30 seconds or so, she only does this on warm starts, also when sitting and iddleing, rotten egg smell, this is new, both these issues are new, I suspect something along the fuel supply volume ???? I noticed that the relay for the fuel pump gets really warm, hot to be exact. Wonder if the fuel pump is taking a dive?? 183k on it??

Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Mike

Here is a great link to Jeep sensors.

I recently changed my EGR valve and Transducer and Solenoid and a new Cat. Passed smog like a brand new vehicle.
If your EGR system is malfunctioning at idle that could cause hard starts requiring you to rev up the rpm. Could be other things too. More troubleshooting, results, info...
