CRANK CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CKP
Years ago, I remember people worried about Chrysler not making it anymore.
People bought a spare, just in case.
Today, I see $10-$20 options on Ebay,
Seems to be a $100 OEM part
Is securing this part not a big concern deal anymore?

The non-oem chinese parts are generally not of the same quality, with many people reporting early failures or dead out of the box. This is true of many, many chinese manufactured parts. Mopar is best if you can find it.
Some parts are getting harder to find, and that crank sensor now appears to be one of them. Rockauto used to have them not too long ago, but i see they are now out of stock. Ebay has a couple Mopar 56027866ac listed. They are pricey, but worth the cost considering the alternative. Aftermarket crank sensors are too unreliable.
Well it looks like they are still available.

And this is one of the most important sensors that you should buy a Mopar one if you can so.....
But sooner or later parts that we can still get today will become N/A IMO.

The best after-market part would be the Standard brand (currently made in Mexico - thankyou NFDA) available at O'Reilly's

I came across a post in the UK XJ Group on Facebook.
The guy did a radiographically inspection of a couple CPS's.
OK so most of this went over my head (what else is new) and showed some shots.
"Well I decided to radiographically inspect 2 of my Crank Position Sensors today so I can u deter and why the cheap ones are not so good.
Interesting to see the difference in the size of the ferrous core between the two of them, as well as the wiring coil configuration. Unfortunately my phone pic’s don’t do justice on the radiographic detail, but now I see the difference and reasoning for the more expensive OE sensor’s. The main difference is that the OE sensor has a larger magnet right at the sensing face of the probe, with the coils wound from the side, whilst the cheaper branded ones, have a smaller magnet(possible the same strength depending on material) mounted slightly further into the sensor, but the feed for the coils, are soldered in front of the coil, potentially reducing pickup sensitivity hence it’s less efficient pulse reading from the flywheel, and therefore poorer AC pulse output. Anyway for those that are still awake after reading this far, I’m going to try and re-strengthen the magnet on the OE and refit in the hope that the pulse signal will improve, providing easier starts."
So the bottom line appears that we have scientific proof to only use a Mopar CPS.
LOL.
