Well I have an 01 Cherokee 4.0, im planning on buying a new motor and rebuilding and stroking it to 4.5, my question is can I use any year OBDII block and have everything bolt/wire right up? Also what about the funky 00-01 exhaust system, if I get rid of the pre-cat system and split manifold and run a 96-99 exhaust with a real header and a regular cat will it still pass emissions (I live in NY) or will I have to keep the whole stock style exhaust system to pass emissions? Im just not sure at all about engine swapping laws here so any help is appreciated.

 

As far as I know the blocks are the same in all I do know they changed the head in 91 and then again in 96???? then 2000??? ( some one jump in if Im off on the years) So block wise you should be fine I would Keep all your accesories so everything wires right back up. your dist., intake, and all that stuff. Hope this helps any and someone chime in if you know more about strokers and 2000's.
