Default Dynomax Cat Back

What is the difference in the two cat back systems from dynomax? They list different part numbers for 86-92 (P# 17463) and 93-01 (P#17340). I thought everything was the same on the cherokees from 86-01 except body and interior stuff. The kit for the older is $50 cheaper that's why I'm asking. Anyone know if it will work for a 95? Anybody use a dynomax kit?

Not everything is the same. Use the part number that falls under your year model range. The exhaust is slightly different in those year ranges.

Anyone have some input on this? Has anybody used one of the dynomax kits?

I have several times, run one on my XJ now. I would assume it's an OBDI and OBDII variance with precats and non that make the difference?

BTW.. if your shopping check out the prices at www.summitperformance.com I just got a Dynomax catback for the wifes ZJ for $50 shipped... theres a $75 rebate.

Its not becuase of OBD1 and OBD2 because the years for the two kits are either 86-92 or 93-01. XJ's were OBD1 up until 95. Hey overland, how do you like the dynomax as far as performance and sound?

I'd like to know as well. I actually like the look of the catback for the '93+ models better with the chrome tip. Just wondering what would need to be done to make it fit on my '91.

The 17340 kit comes with a 2.25" in/out muffler whereas the 17463 (the cheaper kit for older models) comes with a 2.5" in/out muffler. The pipes for each kit corresponds with the muffler size.

Dynomax has a $75 rebate is good wherever you buy it. Good fit, nice tone and easy install would buy again. I cut the tail pipe back so it would not drag on steep inclines.

I'm sure it's going to rust since its not stainless and its subjected to heat but I just installed a Dynomax "super turbo" (what a queer name) on my 97' XJ and its the ideal sound in my opinion. It's barely louder than stock, the exact same length, and once you cut the muffler-back pipe off your stock muffler it can be clamped into position. For the price, I can't see how anything is a better choice.
