I have a 2000 jeep Cherokee 4.0, and I have been reading up on the electric fan swap. I can get two sixteen inch electric fans really cheap, so do you think i can fit them with out a lot of cutting. And, what else could i do to free up a little more power without spending a lot of money.

one... ford taures fan... with the 3 wire plug... not the 2 wire plug... u can buy the kit from autozone that mounts through your radiator and turns the fan on and off at certain temps... like $20 or $30... the taures fan is what all the street rods use... they are said to put out more power then most after market fans... its not the size of the fan but the CFM that they turn... i installed one on my 98 cummins diesel and it worked great... i have another im sticking on my jeep before long... forgot i got it and found it the other day in the shed... they are alittle hard to come by at the junk yard and i found 2 in my old town and he only wanted $20... so i grabbed another...

Two 16" fans are too big. The radiator core is only 29 " wide and 11" tall. You would be wasting the edges of the fan, the part that draws most of the air. I used two 11" fans rated at 2000 cfm.

Just today I was measuring to replace my mechanical fan with an electric one. I already have my auxilary electric one wired to a toggle switch. When offoad iurn my jeep off but leave the electric fan on for a while to help cool things off.
The main electric one I will just wire so when the jeeps running the fan is on. Won't have to worry about a thermostat controler going out on the trail.

Most electric fans come with the shrouds attached. If your wanting one where both fans are all one unit its either finding a taurus one or looking in jegs or summitt.

I have a triple fan setup that mounts perfectly to stock rad.. it came with a tiny computer you mount under your hood. It lets you control what temp. you want the fan to go on at, And a thermo that sticks in the rad to read the temp,,
all that wired to a switch with a inline fuse.. I've been driving it daily for about two years with no problems.
Only downfall is you have to flick the switch when you get in the jeep, but the fans dont kick in till it starts to warm up
