Dual Electric Fan

Dual Electric Fan
Been thinking on deleting the clutch fan and also factory electric fan and installing a dual electric fan setup on my '93 XJ 4.0. Run one of the fans through thermostat inwhich wont kick on till 180 degrees or so and the other only for when the A/C kicks on or both through thermostat. Anyone else done this? Im not gonna run it through a toggle switch, not always do the fans need to run and also, theres always a slip up and forgetting about flipping it on until its already got hot. Also, what dual fan setup off a newer model car or truck a good canidate? Pics included would be nice as well.

I would run one through thermostat and the other off a/c switch, cause whether the motor's hot or not you want plenty of air flow through the condenser (or whatever that is in front of the radiator) when the a/c is on.
IDK about a donor, but I'd like to find out too!

I think, and I am 99% sure that the Ford Taurus SHO fan is the highest CFM fan you can use...I would research that one....

i was goint to do the e-fan (92-95 taurus with 3.8) i bought one and brought it home. When i bench tested it is had a 100 amp start up and a 50 amp constant current draw. a stock alt on a xj is 90 amp. I switched to a 136 amp off of a 93-98 v8 grand cherokee but i still didnt feel comfortible with that high of amp draw. Almost any 16in fan will work with factory mech fan shroud. I used the bigger fan off a stock 96-99 taurus dual fan setup. works great. I can feel more power and have better mpgs. the stock electric fan never comes on.
I had to relocate my radiator 3/4 inch forward. it would fit with out doing this but i like my clearences on rotating parts

I have done it. I built a shroud and mounted dual Derale 2200 cfm fans on it.
For a sensor I used one from Painless Wiring that turns on at 200* and shuts off at 190*. I drilled and tapped a 12mm hole in the intake water jacket for it. It is the one on the right in this pic.
Then you need to have it run its own relay. Down stream of AC the relay hook the two wires to the fan together and this will keep the circuits isolated.

how did you hookup the second fan? I want to wire both my fans to both cut on at about 210 degrees and shut off at 200. Is this possible? And if so how? I was leaning towards the idea of a dual fan setup, but after todays little overheating works during 95* weather, I have fully decided to do this conversion. Are there any downsides??
