My old man put liberty rear disks on his xj a few years back. He welded up a bracket to adapt the parkin brake cables. The caliper was tight to the 15" steel wheel, but it cleared. I'll be doing that mod to mine soon.

I don't have a way to get pics of it. The xj was stolen out of his work parking lot... It had new 3.73 gears and a new LSD too...

Sorry to hear it was stolen. Nice link, FrankZ. In the article he mentions his TJ has a D35C. Is the C something I should be concerned with or will this work for any D35? Not sure what that designates...

the C on Dana 35C means custom. it means it came from the factory unfinished or something, doesnt affect anything, its still just a D35.

I wouldn't mind some pics! I have a dana44 too, but it is my understanding that if I were to go with the ZJ set up, I would have to redrill the backing plate and find or make some spacers so the preload on the bearings are correct?

Alright, now that I know that, I was also wondering if they could be pulled from a ZJ with a D35 (because I have a 8.25) since that's all that's at the JY now. And does it matter if there is an ABS setup? Thanks, FrankZ, you da man!

All zjs had a d35 Im pretty sure. Just pull the rear discs and mounts of of one and they will bolt right onto an 8.25.

Alright, good enough for me! Going to the JY this weekend I guess. Then new pads and rotors along with e-brake shoes depending on condition. Hopefully, my e-brake works better than it does now after the swap.

Don't know if all the links work anymore but they did at one time!
Might have to cut and paste into your browser...
Here's my 1999 8.25" with disks off a 1997 Grand.
I did the parking brake cable like this rather than loop it. It works nice because it has good spring tension.

Thanks for the good info and heads up. I think I'll try the e-brake cable the way you did. I'm sure it'll work better than it does now, no matter what. Right now, it barely holds after 10 clicks.

The nice thing about doing it that way as opposed to making a loop is you have spring tension for it to return after you let the brake off. You could also put a larger spring over the spring in the picture for even more return action.
Best way is to grab the whole axel so if you have access to a welder you can weld those brackets to the axel that hold the lines like I did...
That's all I know
