Hey everyone
First off I have a 96 xj with a Chrysler8.25 with drum brakes.

I did the brakes yesterday, changed pads, drums and all hardware.
Now when I reverse in my jeep it works fine till I put it in drive, I'll get like a half turn before my brakes kinda just lock up. I looked for the problem but I'm confused as to what it could be? Need some helpful suggestions, thank you

I'm able to get the drum off, but I should mention that one of them was kind of a pain to put on(didn't line up exact but with little force I got it on) I maybe should have took more pics( and better ones too lol) but here's one before and one after

Did you back the adjuster off at the bottom? Are both shoes seated properly against the anchor pin up top? Is the anchor plate seated properly over the anchor pin? A sticky wheel cylinder is possible. Parking brake cables look good?

Thanks for responding! The adjusters were adjusted all the way in when I did it. They seem to come out alittle when I back up. Then when I put it in first and go(5 speed) they almost lock up alittle. I'll triple check everything else. I don't believe the wheel cylinder is sticking and the parking brake has some slack in it, but maybe loosing the cable could help, I'll try that out

Could you get a photo of the lower section? I would agree with FB97XJ1 and guess the shoes are seated fully.

We are looking at the driver side right?

Correct this is the driver side. I didn't have any problems with the passenger side. I'll try to take better pictures when I get out of work today

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but depending on what Jeep you have, aren't there 2 different sized shoes? Maybe he has the wrong ones?

I'd love to do a disc brake conversion but it's like 500 bucks

Disc braked my '96 not long ago. No where near $500. PM "Big David" about it.
