Default Dropped a bolt into the bell housing, need help.

So I dropped a bolt changing my CPS on my XJ into the bell housing, I have no idea what to do. Do I need to drop the transmission to get it out? (Something I have never done) I also tried to stick a magnet down into the opening a bit to try and reach it. I could really use an easy way, I don't have a lot of tool, but I make do. What do I need to drop the transmission, if need be?

Remove the flywheel inspection cover, have a peek inside.

Yep, there's a thin aluminum cover on the forward-facing bottom of the bell housing (just behind the oil drain plug), (2) 18mm nuts/bolts and (2) 13mm bolts. Just loosen the 13mm on the driver's side and remove the other three. The inspection plate will pivot down and can then be removed. Depending on the size of your fingers, you can slip them under the flywheel but the bolt will likely be sitting right there. Good luck.

Just be glad you diddnt drop that 11mm socket in there like I did once. It was too big to pull past the fly wheel so I had to run it up through the starter hole lol
